*All final report materials are due within 30 days of completing your Community Reads Project or by the final report deadline, whichever comes first.

About the Community Reads Grant

All SELCO libraries are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 in Community Reads funding each year. The application form is open from August to January each year and projects are approved on a rolling basis. Application review may take up to 2 weeks and project activity can begin as soon as official approval is received.

This grant is designed to support a community-wide reading initiative in many ways. In addition to a traditional "one title" community read, consider the following...

• Poet Artist Collaboration

• Open Books Reading Challenge

• Youth/Teen Book Club

• Book created by/for your community

Funding can be applied in a wide variety of ways including, but not limited to: an author talk, a storywalk, art materials for a series of workshops related to books, purchasing books to distribute or add to your collection, writing workshops etc. Your imagination is the limit! When people read together they come together to learn and grow, and a Community Reads initiative can help your library build a more engaged and empathetic community.
