The FY24 Community Reads Application is now closed. The FY25 application will open in early December, 2024. 

December 2: FY25 Application Opens

December 31: All final report materials for FY24 projects due

January 15, 2025: FY25 Application Due

February 5: Legacy Committee meets to review applications

February 10 - December 31, 2025: Approved FY25 projects take place

All SELCO libraries are eligible to apply for up to $2,000 in Community Reads funding each year. This grant is designed to support a community-wide reading initiative in many ways. In addition to a traditional "one title" community read, consider the following...

• Poet Artist Collaboration

• Book to Big-Screen Book Club

• Open Books Reading Challenge

• Youth/Teen Book Club

• Book created by/for your community

Funding can be applied in a wide variety of ways including, but not limited to: an author talk, a storywalk, art materials for a series of workshops related to books, purchasing books to distribute or add to your collection, writing workshops etc. Your imagination is the limit! When people read together they come together to learn and grow, and a Community Reads initiative can help your library build a more engaged and empathetic community.
